After aging Sagamore Spirit's Straight Rye Whiskey for 4 years in high-char new American Oak barrels, Sagamore Spirit's distillers transfer the aged whiskey into 30-year-old French Cognac barrels for over 2 years. This secondary aging process imparts velvety notes of apple and pear.

Ragged Branch is nestled in the foothills of the Ragged Mountains near Charlottesville, Virginia. As a farm-to-bottle distillery, they grow, harvest, and mill rye and corn to craft their homegrown bourbon recipe. They distill, age, and bottle their bourbon on site, and feed the residual mash to their cattle. Matt Cross, Nicholas Cipriano and Joe Cipriano of Dawson's Liquors visited their distillery in January to hand select the first Barrel Program of 2021. After tasting through an assortment of barrels and recipes, we chose Barrel #1664. This bourbon was put into its original barrel on 2/15/16 and then Double Oaked on 2/19/20.
